I grew upwards with this stuff - it'south a dish that'southward like second nature to most Italians. It's non really all that hot and information technology actually shouldn't exist - that's not supposed to exist the betoken. This recipe is wonderful and right on as is, however, mixing in some fresh chopped parsley at the terminal adds freshness and color. Simply certainly add the garlic, oil and crushed cherry pepper to suit your own tastebuds, as Im sure the submitter would agree. This night, just for something a piddling different, I made this in the style of Cacio e Pepe - add some of the reserved pasta cooking h2o to the cooked spaghetti, then mix in some grated Parmesan or Romano cheese - what y'all want to achieve is a flossy sauce. If it is too watery, add more cheese - if too dry, add more of that beautiful, starchy pasta cooking water. Just some other delicious way to consume basic pasta...

Also known as Spaghetti east Aglio Olio eastward Peperoncini, this is ane of my favorite pasta dishes! I recommend substituting a fresh, thinly-sliced red peperoncini (chili pepper) for the crushed red pepper; adding a few tablespoons of fresh, finely-chopped flat-leafage parsley (besides known as Italian parsley); using a skilful, flavorful make of olive oil; and using the best Parmigiano-Reggiano you can afford. Add the chili slices for the last infinitesimal or so to the hot garlic and oil, and add together the chopped parsley when tossing the oil and pasta together. --In the by I have had the opportunity to sample this dish made with dry ingredients. Nevertheless, preparing this dish with fresh ingredients makes it a stand up-solitary repast. All you need is a glass of Pinot Grigio and your favorite fresh staff of life. Mangiare bene!

Wonderful side dish! I used 1/2 lb. of pasta and kept everything else the aforementioned. I added one Tbsp. of butter, 2 Tbsp. of finely chopped flat leaf parsley and a niggling salt. It doesn't get much better than this....
01/13/2005
It was awesome. I, of grade, added more than of the spices, some pepper, and some butter. Loved it. Add together the butter, it makes information technology so much amend.
06/23/2004
This has speedily become a household favorite! Nosotros like to add chopped tomato plant into the oil correct before serving, and we serve it with grilled chicken.

My husband is Italian and grew upwardly eating this. This is i of his favorite dishes. It makes a perfect side dish. I made with grilled shrimp and asparaus. I used FRESH grated parm cheese, practise not use the stuff in the green bottle. I cut the pasta in half and used angle hair.. very good!

What a fantastic picayune pasta dish! And so easy so tasty. It took no fourth dimension at all and the Hubster and I both enjoyed the issue. I permit information technology simmer for nearly 20-25 minutes to really allow the ruddy pepper release it's heat and the garlic to become a piffling more fragrant. On low rut, you shouldn't accept whatsoever problems with the garlic called-for. Be sure to use a very practiced extra virgin olive oil with a flavour that yous dear, as the olive oil is your main chemical element in this simple and delicious pasta. The garlic and red pepper simply add another level of yummy and the taste was perfect! Thank you for sharing this treat! :)

The nuts of this dish are very good, however information technology came out kind of banal to me: I used minced garlic because I had it on hand, and sauteed it in the olive oil with the red pepper and poured it over my pasta. I'll acknowledge I didn't have spaghetti and then I used an elbow noodle, and cooked way too much and then I doubled the sauce - and I could taste it simply it was, once more, bland. So I added a can of cooked chicken, plenty of parmesan, and quite a flake of lemon juice (after a favorite lemon pepper pasta dish). Delicious! And like shooting fish in a barrel - merely plenty heat with the recommended amount of red pepper!
01/22/2011
Wearisome. I served this with tortellini and peas, and it was yet boring. It's a expert recipe when y'all're also lazy to make a trip to the grocery store, but that's near it.
01/22/2002
This dish is very good & like shooting fish in a barrel to make. I used to make this dish with sauteed sliced banana peppers from my garden, instead of the red pepper flakes, but this is easier. We like spicy food then I merely used 1/ii lb. pasta. This did need a very lite sprinkle of salt. G.M.S. Amity, Pa.

05/18/2003

06/16/2010
Great side! I used this on leftover spaghetti and it was very tasty.
01/22/2012
As written, I think there is too much pasta, so I cutting the amount in half and used the aforementioned amount of sauce. I also used half butter and oil, upped the red pepper to get in 'hot' (for those who avoid spicy foods, this isn't that spicy. I don't care for too much estrus and I enjoyed it even after adding more than). I also added some parsley. This made a dandy side dish, thanks.
04/27/2011
The parmesan overpowered the crushed cerise newspaper and it only became dry and bland. I call up the measurements are off. This might piece of work with less spaghetti, merely equally is it doesn't.
06/26/2010
Talk nearly memories! I showtime had this dish about l years ago as a immature airman. I was stationed at Wheelus Air Force Base with the Military machine Radio in Tripoli, Libya. Our old station manager, Tom De Castro, would fix tons of the stuff every Friday evening and we'd spend the evening listening to sports events coming in via shortwave. For a couple of bucks he could feed the radio staff and the news department! And there was always that fantastic wine we'd smuggle in from Italy. Cal
01/sixteen/2011
Yummy! I made this with wheat pasta because that is all we had on paw and it was nevertheless delicious. The only modify I made was to add a couple more garlic cloves than it called for (about 5, I recall). Quick and succulent.
06/27/2010
Wow, such a unproblematic and delicious dish. It's bang-up as a side dish or a primary form.
08/14/2009
This is easy and inexpensive to make... This is swell only I like plainly pasta. I used affections hair instead of spaghetti.
04/29/2011
Love it! I couldn't stop myself from eating 2 servings and I'one thousand looking forward to leftovers. The only thing I did differently was to add some extra garlic, and I served the oil mixture on the side so everyone could utilise as much or equally picayune as they wanted. As others recommended I permit the oil, garlic, and pepper simmer for xx+ minutes. Fantastic!
07/26/2011
Very yummy. I used basis red pepper and I should have put more in than I did. I upped the amount of butter just a little and ultimately simply used a i/ii lb of spaghetti. I savor extra sauce. I also added an extra clove of garlic (minced) equally well because I love it. I salted it too and added in some parsley every bit others suggested.
01/23/2012
My mom gave me this recipe and nosotros adults beloved it at my house. Every bit is, is fantastic. If you want to make a meal out of it, we take frozen cooked shrimp, thaw and peel tail off, then throw in with the garlic and oil about 5 minutes before nosotros mix in the noodles. We like to experiment with dissimilar spices to make it new and exciting every time.
09/16/2011
Really piece of cake and lite. I add together broccoli to mine.
09/14/2011
This was a nice change - I certainly enjoyed and will make again. I had left over egg noodles and was STARVING (grin). Whipped this upwardly in like 5 minutes, tossing the common cold noodles into the pan nether very hot heat. Noodles got nice and crunchy (yum) - the rut from the red pepper was fantastic when served with a nice cold salad. I thoroughly ejjoyed.
06/29/2010
This was the "Italian can't consume meat on Friday dish or the "Basic Italian everything in the business firm dish" I make it all the time, order it out in Italian restuarants that I know I am sitting at an Italian table. My Italian friends laugh and say this is the "poor mans dish" poor or not it is a wonderful dish. Make it with Penne, broccoli and holds all the flavors better than spaghetti. This is my favorite Italian dish. Basic..
01/05/2011
This makes for a nice, lite lunch. Be sure to apply a skilful quality olive oil. Cheers for the recipe!
01/18/2011
This is a great base to showtime with. I like to add ground pepper and a trivial flake of butter. Also, if y'all desire to endeavor a meat with it, chopped Chorizo goes neat with this dish and gives it an extra kick.
12/01/2011
information technology was the all-time nosotros added grey salt italian herb and the rest was the all-time
01/23/2010
Simple delicious dish!
12/29/2005
This is my absolute favourite food of all. I add common salt & pepper and some fresh grated nutmeg to the pan with the oil, garlic and chilies to heat up jusst as I'one thousand about to drain off my pasta. I toss it in and let the flavours mingle and and so afterwards I plate it I top it with an abundance of fresh grated parmesean. There is no other way to practice it. Dried parm is nowhere about the same as fresh. If y'all desire to make it into an alfredo just melt in some butter and so some cream and heat through. Fresh parsley is wonderful and endeavour adding capers and chopped olives and shrimp etc. This is a dish you can be creative with.
08/fifteen/2011
This is and so adept and simple, I can't believe that I didn't think of information technology before. The best part of this recipe is that I always accept all of the ingredients in my pantry, and so if I don't feel like grocery shopping this volition be my go to recipe. Information technology tastes best with parmesan reggiano, but still tastes really skillful with cheap kraft parmesan cheese.
04/20/2011
Yum!!! I added a teaspoon of crushed cerise pepper, extra cheese, salt and pepper. With these adjustments its bang-up. Without it'southward a trivial bland.
07/07/2010
I made a few changes, simply loved this recipe! I used the suggestion of another reviewer and substited penne in place of spaghetti. I used i/viii loving cup olive oil & one/8 loving cup Smart Rest spread, simply to add a bit of buttery flavor, but go on it healthy. And then at the last minute, I realized I had a packet of fresh mushrooms that I needed to utilise, so I sauteed the mushrooms & tossed them in with the pasta. Yummmmmmm!!!!
01/18/2012
So elementary, so proficient!
09/02/2011
A quick and easy style to doctor up some plain old spaghetti. I was a bit worried this would exist as well spicy for my kids, but they gobbled information technology downwards.
07/10/2009
I added a couple handfuls of frozen broccoli & shrimp to the pasta equally information technology cooked. Besides added 1 tsp stale basil to the oil. A very quick & easy dish to make at the last minute.
11/xv/2010
A skillful base to play with! I added some different spices and information technology turned out great!
08/01/2011
I can't even say how many times I've fabricated and eaten this pasta...it's sooo skilful! I pretty much only heart-ball everything to taste, and sometimes add a little salt if I think it needs it. This is tasty as a main course with a nice salad and garlic bread or equally a side to pretty much anything! Information technology's also a great go-to recipe if y'all are short on fourth dimension or cash. Definately ane to have in the recipe file! Thank you for sharing. :)
01/20/2010
This was very easy and very tasty. I cutting the recipe in half and still had rather a lot for 2 people. I could barely taste the cherry-red pepper, and I am pretty sensitive to spicy foods. I also had to go out off the parmesan, discovering at the terminal minute that I was out. Still a bully recipe, thanks for sharing!
06/27/2010
I've been making a version of this for quite some time. To notch it up a degree or 2 I add toasted pine nuts, dominicus stale tomatoes, onion, capers and sometimes quartered artichoke hearts to the olive oil mix. It's the best quick fix meal!
06/26/2010
I have used this recipe for years..the merely thing I practise differently is saute a few fillets of anchovy in the olive oil. It doesn't add a fishy taste..simply a slight improver of salt..I also serve information technology with a tomato stuffed with a simple crab salad of mayo, crushed black olives, onion and the lycopersicon esculentum meat that I scooped out..helps even out the palate.
03/xvi/2004
This is my all-time favorite recipe from this site! Simple to prepare and neat season. Love the kick, just besides good to put down! Have even added a picayune feta sometimes.
06/30/2010
I am giving this 4 stars as I thought it was just ok. I fabricated it exactly as stated except I added half a purse of frozen diced veggies to the pasta every bit it was humid. I likewise found it to exist both oily still dry. I will try it again and try to figure out some way to make it a bit more saucy.
06/fifteen/2007
when I make this I put a colander with broccoli in it over the pasta pot for the last 5 minutes. serve with garlic bread
06/26/2010
This is a bones recipe---coming from a Italian family my mom made information technology with other added ingredients-- For this much oil try adding 2 cans of anchovies with the garlic and cook until the anchovies get pasty--added Italian flavored bredcrumbs till the oil gets sopped upward but not to dry--- Never accept tried the red pepper with this--cheese can be sprinkled on elevation if you like-- My brother-in-law--who is non Italian loves thsi--and many years ago--my mom fabricated for his Navy buddies--who were definately not Italian--went nuts over this---
12/09/2008
Made this every bit a side dish and it was swell.
02/07/2012
This was pretty tasty for a quick meal. I threw in some broccoli likewise. It was hot!
11/thirty/2008
This is a very good bones recipe, thank you Kathleen. Anyone with a fiddling experiance volition exist able to add or alter to please their own family tastes. I added more garlic, onoins, mushrooms, and cajun seasoning and we made this into a 1 dish repast. We loved it.
04/08/2010
five stars for beingness super like shooting fish in a barrel and expert! Just needs a little table salt and it's perfect! Cheers!
04/15/2009
This is a cracking pasta dish . You can be very creative with this recipe. I added craven and basil. And so good! Next time I programme to use shrimp and a little lemon to alter it up.
05/xix/2010
My garlic and red pepper flakes crisped up nicely in the olive oil which was a nice season. Next time I will serve with some baked tomatoes.
09/09/2005
Was excited by the good reviews-just a fleck disappointed-was OK and nothing I'll probably make over again. Not plenty sauce to cover pasta well and did non have much taste.
01/08/2005
I thought this was adept, but I think information technology needed a can of diced tomatoes. Peradventure I just felt similar I needed more of a "sauce." I as well doubled the amount of olive oil and cherry-red pepper cos it didn't seem like enough for the corporeality of noodles. Overall though, this was a good quick meal.
06/01/2012
Holy cow this was much hotter than anticipated! And I should have anticipated it given the name of the recipe! This was such a pleasant surprise, and I will certainly make it ofttimes. Made equally written except I used angel hair pasta equally that was what I had on mitt.
04/09/2011
I made this recipe for dinner tonight and thought information technology was swell! Definitely a keeper. I added some butter and salt/pepper to the olive oil mixture.
08/31/2007
These weren't bad... I used ground cayenne pepper, since I didn't have flakes, and I don't think I added enough. The leftovers weren't as good equally the noodles were the first time around. Either way, it was a squeamish change.
02/16/2012
And so Skilful. I typically halve or quarter this recipe, and it'south all the same great. I also like to keep a cup of the starchy cooking water and stir a little bit of that in to loosen the mixture, peculiarly helpful as the cheese starts to melt. I also add together a petty more table salt and lots of fresh cracked black pepper, and information technology'south perfect!
ten/05/2010
this was and then easy and a kid pleaser!! of course i modified it a chip.... i sauted some chicken, mushrooms, olives, fresh parsely and thyme with the garlic and used fettucini noodles.
08/13/2008
This is a regular dish at my house, simply with a few additions to make it a balanced meal. When the pasta is almost done, I throw a bag of frozen broccoli and about 2 cups of thawed frozen pre-cooked shrimp with the tails removed. Bleed, toss it all with the oil mixture and acme with parm. Delicious and impressive plenty for company... If they don't mind information technology hot!hot!hot!
06/26/2010
But add a lilliputian apartment foliage parsley and you take a wonderful master class.
02/29/2004
This is like the aglio e olio I get at my favorite italian restaurant (Cant recollect how to spell that at present, only thats close plenty) I really like this a lot. Later making this many many times I can say without a doubt that y'all demand to watch the estrus, nothing worse than burnt garlic and allow it simmer awhile then the season of the garlic comes out. And fresh ground Parmesan is awesome!
11/xiii/2010
This came out as a very tasty side dish. I used an herb-infused olive oil and kind of wished I had used butter instead, only that would really take made this into a totally different recipe (equally butter would tone down the heat from the crushed cherry pepper). I served this underneath AR's "Chicken and Herbs" by Judy Sargent with a side salad & this was a nice dinner. Thanks for the recipe!
03/xvi/2008
Tryed it your style and it rocked! Played with the recipe the second time and added a couple twists. Try adding feta in place of parmesian. Also effort adding sun dried tomatoes. YUM
06/02/2008
This was a good basic recipe, but I added more ingredients to conform my sense of taste. I added some tomatoes, scarlet peppers, light-green peppers, left over grilled wiggle chicken, and some cajun seasoning. I also used whole grain pasta. Information technology was delicious this way. I'm afraid information technology would be a scrap bland if I would have followed the recipe.
06/12/2005
I have made this recipe many times but, I apply angel hair pasta and I like to add parsley, shrimp and quartered artichoke hearts.
01/10/2008
My family didn't like this at all. Information technology did not have much flavor. I won't be making this once again.
01/04/2008
Add a piddling lemon juice, a few leaves of chopped basil and you've got one heck of a meal. I also added grilled chicken to the meal by chopping it into bite size pieces and mixing it in with the spaghetti. For an even lighter fare, try Rozini make noodles for an actress fiber kick
04/11/2008
This was a spicy flavorless pasta. If yous add boosted ingredients it can be good simply then it's not the recipe. I think I'll keep looking for a pasta dish that's adept as is.
09/18/2008
This was fantastic! I used a heaping measure of the crushed red pepper and more garlic than called for since we dearest garlic. Everyone loved this side dish. (Hubby is wanting to make this again adding some shrimp scampi on tiptop). I could take eaten this merely equally it is for a meal. Thanks!!!
11/16/2007
This was so-o-o good! Hubby said give information technology a 4 star....I say 5 star. Only trouble I found was that the Hot! Hot! Hot! actually wasn't and then Hot! Next fourth dimension this Texas gal will add more Crushed Ruby-red Pepper! I did add butter like some other reviewer stated. I just couldn't stop eating it! Thanks, Kathleen for a groovy recipe! Will make this elementary recipe over and over over again.
09/06/2008
yum yum yum yum yum! I added near ii Tbsp butter, some oregano, i/ii tsp table salt, i/two tsp pepper, and almost one extra tsp of crushed red pepper to the garlic, EVOO mix. Also threw some Italian breadstuff crumbs onto the pasta. The parmesan is key. This was SO good! I'grand going to try it with the marinated grilled shrimp from this site, which is also amazingly skillful!
12/06/2004
This is ane recipe I always employ with spaghetti, fettuccini, and angel hair pasta. It tastes great with alfredo, meat or but virtually whatsoever sauce. If eating alone, I usually substitute the parmesan cheese for a tad flake of ranch or ceasar dressing. Yum!
07/23/2010
I added a lilliputian more crushed red pepper because we beloved the hot! Otherwise I followed the recipe to a tea. Family LOVED it - Swell modify from the potato! Cheers for the yummy recipe!
05/22/2012
I use linguine and add together broccoli - delicious repast!!!
06/03/2008
Dearest this! I make it w/ diced garlic, butter, table salt, pepper, crushed cherry-red pepper. Then over the pasta I sprinkle breadstuff crumbs before pouring the hot oil. It adds a niggling crunch to the pasta. Serve w/ salad and maybe garlic breadstuff, yumm! I'1000 addicted right now!
10/13/2010
This has get a staple when I'1000 short on time and ingredients! It'due south DELICIOUS just how it is, and I've likewise made some varieties: Toss in a chopped lycopersicon esculentum just afterwards the garlic; add a chicken breast or shrimp; or if you really need meat and don't feel similar cooking any, slice up a piece of deli ham and put some slivers on top of each serving. I've made it with all different kinds of pasta, tri-color rotini is my favorite so far considering it looks prissy and really picks upwards the sauce. Yum yum my hubby and I beloved this!!
07/17/2009
I'll consume it myself, but not something I'd make for others.
07/01/2010
Simple and tasty
07/23/2010
I added a little more crushed cerise pepper considering we dearest the hot! Otherwise I followed the recipe to a tea. Family unit LOVED it - Smashing change from the potato! Thanks for the yummy recipe!
02/27/2005
This recipe is so quick, easy, and best of all, versatile, since information technology easily goes from a sidedish to a maindish with the addition of whatsoever suits your taste. When our older son moved out, he requested a copy of this recipe to take with him. Thanks!
09/thirteen/2007
Im giving this recipe four stars considering it required a lot of change to suit my tastes. So here is what I did, and I love it! ane/4 cup of olive oil, 5 or six large cloves of garlic, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, salt and fresh footing black pepper. I mixed it all together and baked in the oven until the cloves were soft and browning. And so I poured it all into my Magic Bullet blender and pureed it. From the blender into the frying pan, where I used the mix to sautee half a white onion and then some craven chest. Once the chicken was cooked, I added a large can of diced tomatoes. Heated it through and permit it simmer while the water boiled and the pasta cooked. The longer it simmers the better it will taste. After the pasta was cooked I threw it into the pan with the sauce and mixed it all upwards. Let it sit down for a chip and and then serve with fresh parmesan on meridian! Soooo adept!!!
05/27/2010
Really good stuff. For so few ingredients information technology turned out actually great. I crushed my garlic and threw information technology in with the EVOO (that fashion I could pick it out later). I wanted a scrap of a crunch so I crushed up some croutons and mixed them in. Succulent!
12/10/2006
Great simple recipe. Tastes just like a dish that Spaghetti Warehouse serves! However, I didn't really taste the cerise pepper, then if y'all're a fan, I would recommend adding more. I added a can of well drained Italian diced tomatoes at the end and heated them through, which added a dainty trivial actress. Bang-up recipe! Thanks for sharing.
03/04/2010
This is delicious. My husband got up for seconds and when he saw there was but noodles left and no sauce, he begged me to tell him what was in information technology because he was making MORE right now! :) Guess that's good sign!
10/07/2012
My family loves this side dish. It's quick, easy, and tasty.
04/09/2006
Very good and easy. I as well added black pepper.
08/03/2008
This recipe wasn't what I was expecting. Information technology was very bland. I had to add together salt and pepper to it for it to be seasoned. Once the salt and pepper was added, it was still just okay. I served information technology with craven chest I pan seared with lemon pepper seasoning and garlic bread. Overall it was edible, just I don't retrieve I'll make it again. Information technology wasn't a very memorable recipe.
11/12/2014
So like shooting fish in a barrel. So practiced. My 5 year erstwhile asks for this at least one time a week. You tin add more or less spice to conform your tastes. I've too added a little onion or whatever here and at that place. So many add in possibilities.
02/18/2010
To spice information technology upwards, I used 4 garlic cloves, with 1 tsp Oregano, 1 tsp basil and 2 tsps crushed ruddy pepper in olive oil. Instead of using spagetti, I used fusilli. After adding the pasta to the olive oil mixture I added Maggi hot n sour chilli sauce as otherwise the pasta was dry and added about ane 1/ii tsps of salt.
05/03/2008
Information technology was fine. Nothing to rave nearly.
12/06/2009
Unproblematic and okay. We honey past a west/ more flavors and sauce so this was just okay for us. Could use some italian seasoning.
09/09/2009
this was a squeamish light lunch. i'd use it again - but not for company.
07/09/2009
Very good! even better with some butter!
02/04/2009
